New ORIGINAL Walker Mark Lake Nightmare Decks were recently discovered in Bruce Walker's warehouse. These decks were from a batch of boards built in the Walker factory in Cocoa Beach, Florida on August 18, 1986 by factory manager Mark Lake and crew. These Nightmares were originally set aside in 1986 and then uncovered many years later during a warehouse cleanup. They had originally been boxed and set aside because they were part of a batch of decks that showed a larger than acceptable ratio of delamination (separation of hardwood maple plies). The batch included normal, first quality strong decks that were solidly glued, along with an unknown number of decks that looked entirely normal but later delaminated after assembly and riding. Prior to riding one of these boards, there was no visible way to determine which ones might delaminate and which ones were solid. For that reason, these decks were set aside and isolated, to be dealt with at a later time. That later time is NOW. These original Nightmares are currently being offered to collectors worldwide in 4 classic colors. They are being sold "as is" with no guarantee against delamination. These decks may have very minor chips and cracking along edges due to age. It is recommended that they be used for display only and not be assembled or ridden.
Mark Lake designed this iconic Nightmare board with notches on the front so when doing certain tricks the board wouldn't slip out of his sweaty hands. He added notches in the tail to hook the front of your foot or heel to pull the board along when doing "slides."
